About Us

We are the Knights of Columbus.  We are a Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization dedicated to serving the community, defending the Faith and promoting the vocations of our Catholic Church (including married and consecrated life).  It is open to all Catholic men over the age of 18.

The Foundations of Buffalo Knights of Columbus

Buffalo Knights of Columbus was founded in the belief that communities must learn to help themselves. Our work is founded on the following five pillars of faith:

  • A duty to reach out to the less fortunate
  • An obligation to lead by example
  • An all-inclusive approach: We help everyone regardless of their religious beliefs
  • Acceptance of the fact that we, too, may someday require assistance in our time of need
  • The path to salvation lies in volunteering

Our Work

The Knights of Columbus works diligently to meet the ever-changing needs of the communities in which we live.

We have been involved in many projects over the years, and we invite you to learn by example how you can help your community together with Buffalo Knights of Columbus.

Our Principles

All the good works we do are informed by our four core principles: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.  From the moment of our founding in 1882, chartiy has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus.  We are men of faith and men of action.  Moreover, in the Knights of Columbus, we approach these acts of charity together.

Pope Benedict XVI calls this the “practice of love…as a community.”  The Order has been called “the strong right arm of the Church,” and has been praised by popes, presidents and other world leaders, for support of the Church, programs of evangelization and Catholic education, civic involvement and aid to those in need.
